John Haack added another milestone to his powerlifting career after lifting a 1,044-kilogram (2,301.6-pound) total at the 2026 Powerlifting United (PLU) American Pro. The competition took place on August 7–8 at the Henrico Sports & Events Center in Richmond, Virginia, where Haack competed in the 100-kilogram weight class.

The American lifter completed seven of his eight attempts across the three disciplines, passing his final squat and narrowly missing a 420-kilogram deadlift. His successful lifts were enough to establish a new all-time raw total world record of 1,044 kilograms.

Haack Opens With National Squat Record

Haack began with a comfortable 340-kilogram (749.6-pound) opener before increasing the weight to 380 kilograms (837.8 pounds) on his second attempt. The lift set a new PLU U100KG National Raw Squat Record, improving on the previous standard of 365 kilograms (804.7 pounds) established by Tyler Williamson at the 2024 PLU Power Surge Pro/Am VIII.

With the record already in hand, Haack called for 420 kilograms (925.9 pounds) on his final attempt. Although he came close to completing the lift, he was unable to lock it out.
