The Standard Insurance Co., a subsidiary of StanCorp Financial Group Inc., announced today that it surpassed $5 billion in pooled employer plan assets under administration.

“Our PEP asset growth reflects strong market momentum and increasing demand for our approach,” said Steve Chappell, the Standard’s assistant vice president of retirement plan sales, in a statement. “Advisers rely on our fully integrated PEP solution to help clients focus on their priorities while receiving the fiduciary management and administrative support needed to manage their retirement plans.”

In July, the Standard added a PEP for 403(b) nonprofit organizations. The firm reported at that time that the company had “nearly” $5 billion in PEP assets, as of July 28.

At the end of  2025, 330 PEPs with 10,797 participating employers, serving more than 1.2 million participants, held $34 billion in assets, according to the 2026 PLANSPONSOR Recordkeeping Survey, published by PLANADVISER’s sister publication. Voya Financial ($6.198 billion in assets), Transamerica Retirement Solutions ($5.353 billion) and Principal Financial Group ($4.684 billion) recordkept the most PEP assets. Aon, which reported in 2025 that it had more than $5 billion in PEP assets, stated in its 2026 promotional materials that it has more than $6 billion in PEP assets.

The Standard entered the PEP market in August 2023 after its acquisition of Securian Financial’s retirement plan recordkeeping business. The firm has since launched PEPs with the Alera Group, among other firms, for which the Standard serves as the pooled plan provider and Employee Retirement Income Security Act 3(16) fiduciary.

The 2026 PLANSPONSOR Recordkeeping Survey was fielded in April and May among 36 DC recordkeepers that reported on their business as of December 31, 2025.
